I am a former marathoner and currently maintain a healthy activity schedule. I follow fitness boards. I prepare real food for my family. I exercise along with instruction videos. I value wellness and applaud those who desire to be fit and truly healthy. I’m finding it increasingly difficult to condone the allowances made for the sake of “fitness.” Continue reading

Christians Are Conspiracy Theorists

Conspiracy (n) : the act of secretly planning to do something that is harmful or illegal

Theory (n) : a set of principles on which the practice of an activity is based

This is not an insult, not to a Christian. When the world hates us, we keep in mind that it hated Jesus first. If we belonged to the world, it would love us as its own. As it is, we do not belong to the world, but have been chosen out of the world. That is why the world hates us (John 15:18). It is no surprise. We have been warned and instructed to “put on the full armor of God, so that we will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil” -Ephesians 6:11. Continue reading

Why We Iced Frozen

Let me start by suggesting any Disney movie ban would be fairly easy to justify. This post will focus on Frozen, the highest-grossing animated picture ever. When I watched Frozen for the first time I was appalled mostly by how lame the plot was. My 3-year-old flat out said, “I don’t like this movie” and that made me happy. I was bored. I will not waste any space in this post with detailing the inconsistencies or even my own opinion. Continue reading

You Are Being Watched

What is going to happen to your soul, your spirit, when you die? That question may seem tired, but often it’s enough to splinter into the brain and make a home there. My hope is that I’ve just splintered your brain. And put out a welcome mat. I want this thought to never leave you. I want you to inquire and explore and pray and strain until you find your answer. I want you to be restless until you have peace about your inevitable mortal destiny. Whoa.

Don’t know where to start? Keep reading.

The Word. God’s Word (the B-I-B-L-E, yes that’s the book for me). It’s alive. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12-13). Open, read it and you’ll see. Once you begin to spend real time with the living Word of God, you will just know He’s watching you. And then you’ll know He’s guiding you. The Word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path (Psalm 119:105). God uses His Word to speak. Are we making the time to open our ears (our eyes, our minds, our hearts) to invite the conversation? He has a lot to say.

“The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.” -Psalm 19:7-11

Perfect, restoring, sure, wise, right, rejoicing, pure, enlightening, clean, enduring, true, righteous. My God is an awesome God.
